Logic Pro 9 versus Logic Pro X.The Library: One of the most notable changes that should have reassured Logic users immediately that the redesign has the pro user's best interests in mind is the Library's move from the right to the left side of the Main Window. Let's start with the interface elements that have been moved. Hopefully Logic users will agree that it's easy when you know how. This month, however, is about a few changes in your line of sight during basic operation.

Over the last 10 months, this column has covered several of the significant new features like Drummer, Patches, Track Stacks and Smart Controls. Others who have are still getting tripped up by the new interface and terminology.

Many professional Logic 9 users haven't upgraded a year after the release of Logic Pro X. Logic has fell from being a leader. If you're having problems navigating in Logic Pro X, we can help you find your way again. I just notice the plugin preset are set up like Cubase now. That was in Cubase for years, but your solution was never a solution for a poorly implemented feature in Logic. Another thing they now have, the drop down presets at the inserts! They were just on the opposite side of the screen. Logic was/is the most complicated daw IMHO, I think streamlining it is a good move.Īs someone pointed out, plugins setting without actually opening the plugin, where visible. Just because something COULD be done in logic still didn't mean people liked the workflow. And being able to set something in Logic still didn't make it intuitive or as efficient as some Daws. all that just know that workflow is still important. It also looks a lot better than any other Logic version. There's also stuff I like a lot in there, like Track Folders, Flex Pitch and many details mentioned in the various threads here. It's as simple as that.ītw, I'm not saying that X isn't a great update for many other users. So, in terms of what I expected for X, I expected. And L9 (and L8, L7 etc.) were IMO all great updates. I just happen to like to help people out if they miss a feature/solution which I know already exists. I know that I may have "neutralized" complaints, but there were a lot of complaints about L9 from people who didn't know much about L9 at all, particularly Pro Tools users for some reason. I don't know enough about Cubase to post much sensible about this topic, really. I don't have time to look for all my posts about ideas for a new Logic features, but here are some I found right now:īut this thread is about Cubase vs Logic, and - sorry for getting back to topic - I already commented the Cubase/Logic thing here: here. But Logic has had very little development in terms of score features and other things I have had on my wish list for a long time, so of course I would have preferred that Logic X addressed as many of these wishes as possible. That's a topic for a different thread, and I have posted about that several times already.

This doesn't give me any confidence that it will deliver as a full control surface. Steinberg seems to market IC-pro as a nice way to record remotely and to have band members make their own mix on their iPads. I've been wanting to control my DAW from an iPad for some time now. How is the comparison between IC-Pro and the Logic iPad app and how do they compare to a Mackie controller? A lot of this thread is about people defending or attacking one of the two DAWs, which has no function.

Cubase and Mac don't play nice, so switching to Cubase means switching to Windows (at least for me).

The problem with this choice though is that it is also a choice of platform. Logic could be $50 and I would still consider Cubase as an alternative.

I bought Nuendo new for $1800!!! C'mon guys: Why do you have to "decide on a DAW and stick with it"? Variety is good! Learning new sh*t is good for your brain! If you seriously can't fork over $200 to buy Logic X, then you should be working harder and not wasting your time posting on this forum! As stated before he price of Logic is irrelevant for this discussion. Less than half the price of any seriously competing DAW except Reaper. And for that you get guitar and bass amp sims, FX up the wazoo, space designer, delay designer (awesome!!!), flex time and pitch, VARISPEED which is worth the price alone IMAO, take comping, and tons more. To me this discussion is ridiculous because, here in NYC, $200 is the cost of a couple of nights out with your significant other.
